The Magnet Freehouse

We have been awarded the Greater Manchester Pub Of The Region 2011!

Built in 1840 as a coaching inn, due to its close proximity to the Heaton Norris Station, The Magnet has retained its original name for 170 years.

John oficialy opening the pub"The Magnet" is Stockport's newest real ale pub. After getting the keys on 22nd September 2009, a massive refurbishment was undertaken.

On 13th November at 13:13:13, we tempted fate and opened our doors, with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The ribbon was cut by our good friend John who was born on Friday 13th!

The Magnet FreehouseWe offer a superb selection of 13 cask ales sourced from micro breweries far and wide. We always have a real farmhouse cider on hand pull too. There is also a wide and varied selection of bottled beers from Belgium, Germany and the U.S.A, and some English ciders. Please see 'Beer Menu' link for details.

We have no T.V's, karaoke or gimmicks, just excellent quality, ever changing cask ales from micro breweries far and wide.

We like to play a part in fundraising and our chosen charity is Kidneys For Life at MINT. Manchester Institute For Nephrology and Transplantation. This charity is based at Manchester Royal Infirmary and funds raised helps renal patients from all over the region. It is a charity very close to our hearts.

We do not serve food, just pork pies from our local butcher, crisps, nuts etc.

The Games RoomBelow stairs...we have lots of cellar space. There is an amazing tunnel leading to a barrel vaulted cellar. This will be our very own micro-brewery where Sarah, our Brewster, will brew her own innovative, unique and popular 'Cellar Rat' branded beers.

The Magnet is a large multi-roomed pub, with ample seating space, a well stocked juke box and a games room with pool table and 2 dart boards

There is a car park located at the rear of the building.

The team at The Magnet, made up of Lesley, Lee, Sarah, Laura, Howard, James, Roy, Rhys, Roseann, Charlotte, Carol, Olivia and Sophie are delighted to inform you that we are in the 2011 Good Beer Guide.
